Emotion vs. 1989

I had the chance to listen to both album at the same day. I will compare 1989 album by Taylor Swift and; Emotion by Carly Rae Jepsen.

Emotion by Carly Rae Jepsen is a pretty good album.

It has the real 80’s vibe, and pretty consistent. I did not have the chance to listen to any of its track the day of its release day except “I Really Like You” which is a below average as a whole in my perspective.

My favorite tracks are “Warm Blood”  and “When I Needed You”. Which really stand out among other tracks. Carly Rae’s creativity stands out to these tracks. What it really lacks is the impact in its lyrics and the sick beat that every pop music should posessed because during the 80’s, most of the music in popular genre are experimental.

However, it deserves a nomination for Album of the Year at The Grammys. It is a solid album in its sound and vibe.

1989 by Taylor Swift surprised her radio listeners but, it wasn’t really surprised to her avid listeners who memorized her whole discography ahead of her latest release.

It is a pretty good album, has the excellent production and lyrics but it is not that consistent album.

My favorite tracks in this album are “Blank Space”; “Style”; “Clean”. They stand out among all the tracks.

I admit that this is not my favorite album of Swift, I find Speak Now and Red so much better. It showcased Swift’s versatility and creativity.

The bad thing about this album is its consistency, “Shake it Off” is like the introvert student in every class that sits at the back of the classroom, however, it has a creative production. “Bad Blood” isn’t that good compare to the other tracks and does not really sound late 80’s nor early 90’s. “How You Get The Girl” is somehow overproduced and still has the sound of her previous works in its tune. “Welcome to New York” could have been better.

“New Romantics” has the real 80’s vibe which did not make it to the cut off because of it did not match the theme of the album.

1989 has the late 80’s and early 90’s influence. A pretty good sonic album. It is sonically good album.

It deserves a nomination at The Grammys for Album of The Year.
