Top 10 Albums by a Female Artist

I have written a blog about my top 10 albums of all time but in today’s blog, their ranking will be changed because our new top 10 will be based on the technichal side of the albums. My criteria in judging these albums isn’t how it sounds to my ear, instead I observed their productions, lyrics, tracklisting and cohesiveness.

In our today’s top 10, I will be ranking my top 10 albums by a female artist since 2000.

 

10. EMOTION by Carly Rae Jepsen

Let’s face it, this album was completely ignored at the GRAMMYs. It should have been nominated because as soon as it was released, I was already thinking that 1989 by Taylor Swift will be surely having a head to head fight with this album for Album of the Year. This album has more sound of the 80’s than 1989.

9. The Fame by Lady Gaga

This is probably one of the most iconic pop album of all time since it was able to put Lady Gaga on top of the game. It’s really hard to put a name on pop music because it is more like a business industry so you have to have a good marketing strategy. It was able to pull off market and talent at the same time. It was able to make a Lady Gaga in the industry. That’s what makes this album iconic.

 

8. Red by Taylor Swift

This album is not a cohesive album. It’s more like a rollercoaster album wherein you will have a really emotional ballad then a dubstep on the next track. It is, I think probably the best work of Swift up this date inspite releasing 1989. It is the most lyrically impressive work of Swift. If it was labeled as pop album and not a country-pop album and remove “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” (because let’s face, she is better than some generic bubblegum pop music) it would have had the thigher chances of winning Album of the Year over RAM at the GRAMMYs.

7.  I Am… Sasha Fears by Beyonce

Imma let you finish but The Queen B’s I am… Sasha Fears is one of the best album she has ever released. This album is one of her best work up top date (not best, just one of the best because she just released Lemonade. I wasn’t able to listen to it yet because it is not yet available in Spotify besides I’m on my tight belt and I don’t want to pirate it either so it’s not on the list). Her vocals and advocates are really visible in this album especially her voice as a feminist, well, usual Queen B.

6. Born This Way by Lady Gaga

It’s hard to have a fame like Lady Gaga, but it’s harder to maintain that fame. But Born This Way didn’t just make her fame stable, it made her bigger than any other artist in her game. She didn’t just establish her name as an artist in Born This Way, she was also able to put her name as one of the best voices of this generation with her well controlled 3 octave voice and as one of best performer of all time. The cohesiveness and the ‘out of this world’ topic of this album turned this album to what it is now. The lyrics is probably the highlight of this album aside from the good production.

 

5. 1989 by Taylor Swift

Let’s face it, this album smoked all of the released of any artist in 2014. It is still doing good on charts as of writing. The cohesiveness and production made by the best producers in pop industry made it as an above average pop album which we always get. Plus, the lyrics from Swift. There’s no track you can consider as a throw away song here. Every single track has the potential to smash every radio station. After her blockbuster album Red, she was able to outdo herself and this album put her on top of her game. After releasing this album, there’s no other popstar in her league had the power and courage to release their albums.

 

4. Crybaby by Melanie Martinez

It’s damn Melanie Martinez. This kind of music always get ignored by the mass and critics. I don’t know why because this album is not mediocre and even a unique album. It has the most creative production I have ever heard. Its production is even accurate to the lyrics. This album is cohesive and exceptionally catchy. It made Melanie Martinez as Melanie Martinez herself.

3. Fearless

The youngest winner of Album of the Year is here! It’s Taylor Swift with her Fearless album. This album made her a country-pop superstar wearing cowboy boots and guitar. This album made her the bigger country star existed. The lyrics and the storytelling of each tracks, one word, outstanding. She wrote this album when she was 16,17 and 18, and this album is beyond her age.

2. Back to Black by Amy Whinehousee

You may like or you may not like what I will going to say but, this late Amy Whinehouse is Lady Gaga. She is Lady Gaga of early 2000’s. This album was able to pull off cohesiveness, lyrics, and topics that aren’t usually the cover of 2000s music. I admit, it is not my kind of music but how it was able to make it to the top 2? Simply because it is a great album.

 

1. 21 by Adele

Adele everybody. I may not like her voice, but she is really giving us the message “Albums cannot be albums with few good songs” because this album is great. This album was made without the consideration of sales, but it did great on sales. It was like releasing music and you didn’t care what everybody was thinking because it was not the trend but it still performed well in sales. (I haven’t listen to 25, since it is not available on Spotify but after listening to a several tracks on Youtube, I am sure that 21 is better and when will 25?) This album has great lyrics, great production, great tune and cohesive.

Top 10 Underrated Songs From Your Favorite Artists

 

I won’t doubt your love to your favorite artists, I am just thinking that you might not paying enough attention to their hidden gems. I want you to pay attention that these hidden gems deserve.

 

10. The Last Time by Taylor Swift ft. Gary Lightbody

The Last Time by Taylor Swift ft. Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol. I am asking myself why does this song from her Red Album isn’t famous even it was released a single? It could have been added to her classics together with “Love Story”, “You Belong With Me”, “Teardrops On My Guitar” and “Our Song”. These kind of songs are not forgettable and could have been remembered in the future but… it is not famous simple because it wasn’t the thing. It wasn’t marketable as “I Knew You Were Trouble”.

9. Grand Piano by Nicki Minaj

Grand Piano by Nicki Minaj. It is a beautiful ballad, why it is not famous as “Anaconda”?  This song from Pinkprint album was the only song that didn’t include a rap verse so it had the high chance to be as famous as her other songs considering rap music was not as marketable as before.

8. Home Is In Your Eyes by Greyson Chance

Home Is In Your Eyes by Greyson Chance. Regardless of its cheesy lyrics,it is still beautifully written. Why does this artist isn’t receiving enough credits to what he is doing? This kid had the range in his voice when he was younger and now he has a very deep voice that can make you fall in love in different times. This song deserves the fame as well as the artist.

7. Asleep by The Smiths

Asleep by The Smiths. I love “The Perks of Being A Wallflower”and it is one of its soundrack, and this song is probably the most depressing song I have ever heard in my entire life. It is an old song, a really old song but I kind of think that it deserve to get the same attention as our old time favorites.

6. Peter Pan by Kelsea Ballerini

Peter Pan by Kelsea Ballerini. I think this song has beautiful lyrics and message. It could be your next heartbreak song. She is an underrated artist, she should be receiving the same fame as Taylor Swift in her early days.

5.  Badge and Gun by John Mayer

Badge and Gun by John Mayer. This is my favorite song from his album Paradise Valley. Beautifully written and the melody will make you imagine that you were riding in an old pick up truck tracking along the road while your window is wide open in the summer breeze.

4. Begin Again by Taylor Swift

Begin Again by Taylor Swift. One word: Beautiful. If you are moving on from your past relationship, this is the best song for you. This is probably the last country song from Taylor Swift.

3. Paper Doll by John Mayer

Paper Doll by John Mayer. It may have a really irritating music video but this song is beautiful. I have no words. Yes! It is about Taylor Swift, or maybe not. Just look up its lyrics and match it up with Dear John by Taylor Swift.

 

2. Hero / Heroine by Boys Like Girls

Hero/Heroine by Boys Like Girls. One word: Beautiful. It is.

1. Forever by Mariah Carey

Forever by Mariah Carey. Another Mariah Carey on the top spot? No favoritism but this song is really beautiful. I cannot decide if it is my favorite song from Daydream album because there are “One Sweet Day”, “Open Arms”, “Always be my Baby” and “Fantasy”. You wont regret listening to this. I swear
